As I was reading through some of these replies I realized a running trend. It may just be pure coincidence but I've noticed that people who spend more time with technology [gamers, computer geeks, etc.] have a much more scientific and logical thought process and therefore have an incredibly hard time having faith in a higher power. Those people need a tangible, solid foundation for their faith. Unfortunately, that's not the point of having faith. Faith is believing in and trusting something without reason. Personally, I believe in God. Though I have been blessed with a reason to. But maybe the only reason I believe that experience was an act of God was because I was raised Catholic and I've been taught to look at small, seemingly insignificant, acts as works of God because He does work in mysterious ways. Faith and perspective go hand in hand quite often.

So for you non-believers, look at life a little differently now. If you think hard enough and break away from the your logical thought process for a second or two, you might have a new outlook on life and on the big guy [or guys] upstairs. That's what worked for me.

I actually find that funny, though God is logical to me.

I never really stated that I believe in God in this topic yet, or why. I do believe in it. I'm not here to prove it to anyone God's existence but I believe God is real.

Why I believe what the Bible says:
The Bible is a revelation from God. It is truth only God knows—truth we would be incapable of learning without God's help. The Holy Spirit exerted His supernatural infulence upon the writers of the Bible. Therefore, I believe the original manuscripts are inerrant (without error), infallible (incapable of error), and that every word in the original is fully and equally inspired (God-breathed) in all it deals with, includng science and history.

That doesn't mean the Holy Spirit dictated the Bible, for the personality of each writer is evident in scripture. It does mean the Holy spirit is the author of the Bible, and man is the instrument God used to write it down.

Simply put, the Bible is God speaking to man in man's language.

My belief in the Bible as the Word of God is an act of faith—not blind faith, however, for it is based on substantial evidence. Consider:

The Holy Spirit reveals the truth of Scripture to believers. I do not believe the Bible because the church tells me to, but because its message is so convincing (John 16:12-15; 1 Corinthians 2:14).

History and archaeology attest to the accuracy of the Bible. Many of the places and events described in the Bible are abundantly confirmed by other historical documents. Other places and events are being uncovered through archaeological expeditions, and these discoveries substantiate Biblical accounts. Thousands of ancient manuscripts have been preserved to this day, and the discovery of other documents in recent years further verifies the Christian claim that the Scriptures can be trusted. All of these documents are available for examination. Here are a couple examples:

1. The Dead Sea Scrolls contain either a fragment or complete set of all the books of the Old Testament, except the Book of Esther. Some of these texts go back to the second and third centures before Christ (BC).

2. Septuigent (Greek translation of the Old Testament) dates from 250 BC.

I can say more but this is just a tiny bit of proving the Bible's truth. One I always liked was how Jesus is proven to have been a real man yet no one can find his body. That is proof that he did rise into Heaven just as it says in the Bible after he came back to life (approximately 500 witnesses, several of those were women) and He told those people to tell what they had seen and to spread His love of how He gave His body, after living a life of sinlessness (being fully pure), died for everyone's sin so people there wouldn't have to continue sacrificing the bestanimals for their sin. He said to spread go and tell this, until He came back again and that is expected to happen. Although refering to the end of the world, no one knows when He will be here. It just says to be ready. If we knew, people could sin all they wanted until the last day.

I believe in God. I have been fortunate enough to actually feel His presence, and that sealed the deal for me. I have spent the past few years as an atheist or agnostic, but I always wanted to be proven wrong -- I always wanted to believe in God. Now I have chosen to be open to the idea of God existing, and I have felt what I truly believe to be His presence in me, and that's proof enough for me.

However, I have little respect for churches, especially Catholicism. I don't think that a group of flawed, imperfect humans are the ones to tell me how to exercise my faith in God.They're good for social work and numerous other things, but organized churches are not right for me.

I refuse to debate on the existence of God. I know I will not be able to convince anyone, and I don't want to try to convince anyone because I know how frustrating that was for me. Just know that you can find Him if you're open to the idea.

Well here is the moment I've heard some have been waiting for. My big post in the "Existence of God" topic. Personally i believe very much in God. I have felt the presence of the Holy Spirit and it has borne witness to me that there is a God. This testimony will not be shaken. Forgive me if I seem single minded, I try to look at every religion without bias but I am not perfect. I have been challenged before with logic and so far there has been no logic that has found sufficient evidence against the being of a God. Faith is known to me as it is referenced in another set of scriptures that our church uses. The Book of Mormon.

In the book of Alma in the 32 chapter and the 21 verse it says:

"And now as I said concerning faith--faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true."

By this definition we have faith that there is oxygen that we breath.

Yari said previously that God doesn't control anyone. If he did there would be no evil. Lots of people say that life is a test, don't you think that we would be given the agency to choose whatever answers we want to mark down. The teacher would not force us to all mark the right answer if so, it would not be a test at all. A teacher may give us a "cheat sheet" or study guide just as we are given the scriptures to help us through life by giving us answers, or guidance when we feel like we can't go any farther. Even the stoner in class who everyone knows will fail is still handed a test and expected to answer the questions, they choose to answer every question wrong or tear up the paper or do something else that would ruin the test. Whatever they do is there decision, it isn't for the teacher to pick and choose who gets the test and who doesn't or to choose the answers they pick and it's not right for God(even though he is all powerful) to make our decisions for us, he can only nudge us in the right direction.

I know i got really of topic and i'm sorry but this being my first large post I figured I'd go all out.

Well I believe in God, but none of that religion bullshit.

Catholics, etc...

They use scare tactics like hell to make you come to their church.

So I just believe in god, because I don't have an explanation for how the Universe happened? Like okay there was the Big Bang right?

Who or what caused the big bang, and how did the universe get here?
???

So that's my 2 cents.

I don't think a lack of a solid scientific explanation at this juncture justifies automatically saying "God did it". That puts us on par with the ancient Greeks with their lack of understanding of static electricity leading to the creation of Zeus with his thunderbolts.

I'm open to the fact that their maybe a higher being, however I do not pray to any gods, I'll believe it when I see, or until I'm smited into the ground by thunder or some other random force. I'm not saying I havent tried to believe in a religion either, I have, however they all have not worked out so well for me, so I believe that would make me an agnostic. My personal belief is that every creature should live the way they want to as long as they dont interfere with one another or kill one another, well that only goes for sentient beings, so feel free to go kill a cow, as long as you eat it, yup.
